The reason I can’t get over Dean and Cas is simple
It is the most romantic unintentional love story I’ve ever seen.
An angel, a warrior of heaven who knew nothing other than servitude, faith and obedience for literally billions of years betrays his entire family, his brothers, for the sake of one man.
A man marked by tragedy from a very young age, a man who has nothing but his family if only they would stay alive, a man who is unable to form relationships at all, a man who can’t trust anyone but still gives and gives until he has nothing left, this man lets someone in, he takes a chance on an angel with insurmountable power who has the potential to hurt him in so many ways, but he lets him in, becomes his comrade, his best friend
and even after that angel betrays that lonely, lonely little boy, the boy forgives him and lets him back into his heart because he never really left
An angel afraid of falling and a man afraid of flying
but somehow, against all odds, they end up somewhere in between
and they realize that it was okay, that they have each other
and even though they are fighting things much stronger than them, they prevail
regardless of the circumstances, they always come back to each other
and maybe, just maybe, they find something in each other that defies everything that they are but despite all of that,
Cas gives Dean something that he needs. Dean needs to be loved, cherished by someone who will always put him first.
and Cas, Cas just needs someone to cushion the fall.
I don’t even understand what the anon its saying though. Every interaction between Dean and cas this season has been incredibly shippy. And non interaction! Like pining at Cas through the window. Pls.
I mean the season literally opened with Dean praying to Cas and he was all wibbly lipped and he said “I need you” AGAIN and I don’t see how that wasn’t an extension of exactly where Dean was in regards to his feelings for Cas last season.
9x03 was an entire 40 minutes of Dean desperately searching for Cas.
9x06 was literally an entire episode revolving around how Dean wants Cas with him despite his lack of powers. He legit snuck off like a teenager to see his boyfriend I don’t see how this isn’t an incredibly good thing for them.
Plus the act of Gadreel telling Dean that Cas couldn’t be with them was painted in such a negative and villainous light, it wasn’t just like “lol bye Cas” it was more like “this is literally the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I want you here so bad” and if that isn’t a romantic trope idk what is.
Word! I know that Dean and Cas haven’t interacted as much this season but it’s because of Dean and his problems and not because there’s some conspiracy at work to down play the importance of their relationship because they want Misha off the show or because of queer baiting. There are reasons, that have to do with the story and characters, to explain the situation. No need for the tinfoil hats.
Dean is so messed up, obliviously but he hasn’t reached rock bottom yet. This year all the characters Dean has been paralleled with, as far as I can recall, have all been monsters or people who have made monsters, like with Ed. Dean’s inability to move on, grow up, acknowledge what he did wrong, etc, I believe, is going to turn him into a literal monster with the Mark of Cain helping with the literal part. If Castiel was around helping the boys with their cases, supporting Dean, acting a go between for the boys, and encouraging them to communicate, Dean could never make the transformation the show is pushing him towards. I think monster transformation will also mean Cain/Colette parallel pay off (and who else but Cas would play that role?) but that might not even come this season since at the end of act two things are supposed to be at their worst.
reblogging for added commentary
Agreed! And while Ed made a monster, Dean has made a monster of himself…and this is why I think Dean and Cas will be apart until the finale, because Dean can’t go dark side with Cas by his side, and the finale is going to be his rock bottom, whatever that entails…
do you ever just want someone to come over and lay on the floor with you for a while
emotional abuse is when someone does something to hurt you, and when you express your feelings, that you’re upset, they turn it around to be something you did to hurt them and they force you to apologize for it, and your feelings, like always, are rendered invalid and silenced, forever damaging the ability to trust others with your feelings because they always are used against you.
this is important because so many people don’t know this
